A camera system is only as useful as the footage it produces when someone finally needs it. That is usually months after installation, in poor light, at a moment nobody anticipated. Systems that fail this test typically fail on lens choice, low-light performance, or storage that silently stopped retaining.
We design coverage from the questions the footage has to answer. Identifying a face at a doorway, reading a plate at a barrier and observing general activity in a car park are three different optical problems requiring different cameras and different placement — not the same camera repeated.
In Dubai, surveillance is also a regulated system. Coverage, image quality, retention and access control over footage fall under SIRA requirements, which vary by business activity and are updated periodically. We design and document against the requirements applying to your specific activity.

How long must CCTV footage be kept in Dubai?
A retention period of 31 days is commonly cited for many business activities, with longer periods required for some. The precise obligation depends on your activity and premises type, and requirements are updated periodically. Treat this as a planning figure and confirm the current requirement for your specific licence with SIRA or a SIRA-licensed integrator before finalising storage sizing.
How many cameras do we need?
It is determined by the zones that must be covered rather than by floor area. Regulated premises typically require coverage of all entries and exits, cash-handling points and main circulation areas, with car parks and perimeters added for some activities. A survey against your activity produces the count; a per-square-metre estimate does not.
Can we view cameras remotely on a phone?
Yes, and it is standard on current systems. It should be configured carefully: remote access is a frequent intrusion route into surveillance systems. That means access through a controlled method rather than a port opened directly to the internet, individual accounts rather than a shared password, and firmware kept current.
What resolution do we actually need?
Higher resolution is not automatically better, because it increases storage and bandwidth and can reduce low-light performance for a given sensor size. What matters is pixel density on the target at the distance involved. A well-chosen lens at moderate resolution frequently produces more usable identification than a higher-resolution camera pointed too wide.
Can you upgrade our existing analogue cameras?
Often the existing coaxial cabling can be reused with encoders or HD-over-coax equipment, which reduces cost and disruption considerably. Whether that is the right choice depends on whether the resulting image quality meets your compliance obligation. We assess the existing infrastructure and are explicit when reuse would leave you short of the requirement.
