FAQ

What size display does our meeting room need?

It is driven by the distance to the furthest seat and what will be shown. A frequently used rule of thumb puts the furthest viewer at no more than about six times the display height for general content, and closer for detailed material such as spreadsheets or CAD. Rooms commonly end up under-specified because the display was sized to the available wall rather than to the seating.

Why do remote participants say they cannot hear the room?

Almost always microphone coverage or acoustics rather than microphone quality. Hard surfaces such as glass walls, bare plasterboard and uncarpeted floors create reverberation that a microphone faithfully captures along with the speech. Adding coverage without addressing the room usually produces a louder version of the same problem.

Should we standardise on Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms?

Standardise on whichever platform your organisation already uses for the majority of meetings, and specify certified hardware for it. Certified devices are validated against the platform, which matters because both platforms update frequently and uncertified combinations are where rooms break. Most certified systems can still join other platforms as a guest.

Can you integrate AV with our existing room booking system?

Commonly yes. Room panels can surface calendar availability and allow booking at the door, and occupancy data can feed utilisation reporting. The integration depends on which calendaring platform you run and what its API exposes, so we confirm compatibility during design rather than assuming it.

How disruptive is installation to an occupied office?

Room by room it is contained, and typically a matter of days per room. The disruptive element is containment and cabling, which is why AV is far cheaper and cleaner when coordinated with a fit-out rather than retrofitted. In occupied premises we schedule cabling work outside business hours where the building permits it.
