FAQ

Should we buy on-premise servers or move to cloud?

It depends on workload profile and data residency requirements, not on preference. Steady, predictable workloads with heavy local I/O often remain cheaper on-premise over a three to five year horizon. Variable or seasonal workloads, and anything needing rapid geographic expansion, usually favour cloud. Most UAE organisations we work with land on a hybrid split, and we model the total cost of both before recommending either.

How much capacity headroom should we plan for?

A common working figure is enough headroom to absorb the loss of one host in a cluster while still carrying peak load, plus room for the growth you expect before the next refresh. Sizing to exactly current demand means the first hardware failure becomes a capacity incident as well as an availability one.

How long does an infrastructure refresh take?

For a typical single-site SME the assessment and design phase is usually one to two weeks, procurement depends on lead times for the specified hardware, and deployment plus migration commonly runs across two to four staged windows. Multi-site or highly available environments extend this. We give an indicative programme with the BoQ.

Can you work with hardware we already own?

Yes. Many refreshes reuse serviceable equipment for non-critical roles such as test, staging or secondary backup targets. We assess age, warranty status and remaining supportability, and are explicit about anything we consider unsafe to keep in a production path.

What happens if a server fails after handover?

That depends on whether you hold an AMC with us. Under a maintenance contract you get an agreed response time and we hold the documentation and spares strategy. Without one, we respond on a time-and-materials basis, which is slower because the diagnosis has to start from scratch.
